I’m Roman, they/them, and I am so excited to be your shameless therapist.  I’m here to join you on your journey of growth and discovery to find your power, sexual pleasure, and peace.  It’s my personal belief that every single human has the capacity to create change, be the author of their own destiny, and overcome shame, doubt, and fear.  This is a safe, open-minded, and compassionate space where you can explore yourself deeply; your emotions, your thoughts, and your experiences will be met with kindness and empathy. GENDER

One of my favorite things to work on with people in therapy is helping them live their lives more authentically through exploring and accepting their gender identity and expression. Whether you are feeling anxious and scared about social transition or coming out or you’re already out and need support letters for medical transition, you are in a place of care and acceptance, and I want you to thrive.

SEX

If you are experiencing erectile dysfunction, sexual fear/anxiety, premature ejaculation, vaginal pain during sex, or your relationship’s sex life needs support, you don’t have to resign yourself to living with those things forever. I have tools, skills, and exercises we can use to transform your sex life.

SEXUALITY

I specialize in helping people accept and explore their sexuality. Whether that means self-identifying, coming out, or removing barriers to authenticity, this is a space where we can address those things. If you’re feeling shame or anxiety about parts of your sexuality, fantasies, or kinks, we can build understanding and create space for sexual joy instead.

How I Practice

FOUNDATIONS

A few things I will always be happy to help with, because I see them as so fundamental to most other changes people want in life, are these: self-esteem/self-love, communication/assertiveness skills, and coping tools. Sometimes these are the main goals of therapy, other times they are stops along the way to something else, but always they play a role, and I love the changes they bring to our lives.

PERSON-CENTERED

Person-centered is simply a methodology or “modality” of practicing therapy. I use this particular practice as my foundation because it assumes that you are the expert on you, and lets you take the lead in your healing process. It also assumes a role of providing unconditional positive regard, not unlike unconditional love. This means that my role is to accept you for who you are and where you’re at and help you get to where you want to go. It means that I won’t judge you for your thoughts, words or actions. You get to be your whole human self, and I am here to support you just as you are.

LIBERATION FRAMEWORK

Using a liberation framework means that we are acknowledging the influence of your social identity and the power dynamics that exist and are at play in our healing journeys. We can talk about the impacts that systems of power (capitalism, colonialism, racism, able-ism, patriarchy etc.) have and have had in your life and in your ancestors’ lives. This framework allows us to address and explore the areas we don’t have control over in order to find peace and understanding.

TRAUMA-INFORMED

Trauma in general changes us, our very brains and the pathways our neurons are taking. Trauma can take many forms: relational trauma, religious trauma, medical trauma, sexual trauma, etc. As we are exploring areas that are already quite vulnerable, trauma can compound and complicate the journey sometimes. Supporting people towards their goals with this in mind means that we won’t ignore or dismiss your trauma, but instead work together to understand its impact and find ways forward that reconnect you to safety and security.

COUPLES/RELATIONAL

Sometimes issues being had aren’t individual. While I am not a catch all relational therapist, I have some great tools and exercises that can help improve communication and create opportunities for better sex. Additionally, I can help explore and build understanding when it comes to transitioning in a relationship setting, changing the relationship structure/style, or with issues in intimacy like mismatched desire or sex feeling like a chore to get you back to a place of joy and love in your relationship.
